Meet the new Owner
Meet the New Owner:
I am so honored to steward the next chapter of Better Buzz Yoga, carrying forward the vibrancy and integrity of the space its teachers and community have built. As I step into this role, I hope to honor the roots of Sunnyside while also embracing the neighborhood’s evolving story—blending its historic charm with the energy of today’s growing community. My vision is to nurture a studio that feels welcoming to all, reflecting the richness, cultural diversity, and spirit that make Sunnyside so special.
Meet Lex Irias (she/ella):
Lex Irias is a trauma-sensitive yoga instructor (200hr YTT + 40hr TSY) and a mental health and addiction counselor (LPCC, ADDC). Deeply inspired by Anodea Judith’s Eastern Body, Western Mind, Lex integrates bioenergetics and holistic approaches into her work, blending movement, mindfulness, and emotional healing.
Lex’s yoga journey has taken her from student to teacher to working behind the scenes in studio operations, with time at Wanderlust Yoga in Los Angeles and CorePower Yoga in Denver. Alongside her wellness work, she spent over a decade in startup marketing and tech, where she first began noticing the impact of screen time and digital overload on mental health. That realization sparked her passion for digital wellness, and today, as an addictions counselor, one of her key focuses is helping individuals build healthier, more intentional relationships with technology. This unique blend of experience gives her an approach rooted in entrepreneurship, guided by community, and fueled by a passion for creating spaces that inspire connection, healing, and growth.
A proud Honduran, Lex moved to South Florida nearly 18 years ago for college and has called Colorado home for the past 11 years. For the last seven years, she has dedicated herself to teaching yoga within the Spanish-speaking community. Her passion for expanding access has earned her multiple grants in recent years to advance mental health and substance misuse awareness while making yoga and holistic practices more accessible across Denver. Lex has also had the honor of teaching bilingual classes at Yoga on the Rocks in both 2022 and 2024, and she looks forward to enriching Better Buzz Yoga with more bilingual and Spanish-language offerings in the months ahead.
Yoga has been a lifelong anchor for Lex. She first discovered the practice in college while recovering from a car accident and searching for inner peace amidst childhood anxiety. Over time, yoga became her tool for healing, regulation, and self-discovery. Today, she embraces both the energizing flow of power yoga (often paired with her favorite Latin house beats) and the grounding stillness of yin, restorative, and meditation practices.
Outside the studio, Lex finds joy in reading, dipping into natural waters, exploring mountain trails, swinging in hammocks, ecstatic dance, and being a dog mom to Blaze. She makes yearly visits to her mother and grandmother in Roatán, a small Caribbean island in Honduras, where she dreams of one day hosting yoga retreats. Lex embodies the spirit of her private practice, SiendoHuman—embracing the simple, imperfect beauty of being human and living life as an ongoing journey of learning, growth, play, and intentional rest.
